The Lagos State, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a unit set up over two decades ago to shore up the tasks of policing the state, has today, the 29th of December, 2021, unveiled a new addition to it arsenal in the form of a new office extension, towards ensuring an increasingly motivated and efficient workforce.

ENDSARS ASSAULT; LNSA SANCTION OFFICERS

The Management of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) has sanctioned all the Officers involved in the unlawful treatment of Mr Adedotun Clement (the Uber Driver) during the ENDSARS anniversary protest.

This is following the conduct of the orderly room trial of the two Officers identified in the various videos on social media from the incident and the supervising Officers from at the venue.

ENDSARS ANNIVERSARY PROTEST: 34 SUSPECTS ARRESTED, ARRAIGNED

The planned protest in commemoration of the one year anniversary of ENDSARS was carried out by protesters who moved in motorcade through the Lekki toll gate at about 0800hrs. They ended the protest at about 1000hrs.

Group condemns planned protest against Police over alleged rights abuses, extortion in Delta state

A group under the aegis of People United for Societal Harmony, PUSH a Non-Governmental and Non-Profit making Organization NGO domiciled in Delta State has condemned in strong term, planned protest by some persons masquerading as Human Rights Organization in Delta State alleging Police extortion and rights abuses; saying such act was capable of resonating the ugly legacies of the #EndSARS protest.

Soldiers went to Lekki tollgate with live bullets – General

The Commander of 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos, Brigadier General Ahmed Taiwo, has explained that Phase Four of military internal security operation, which was deployed at the Lekki tollgate on the night October 20, involved the use of both live and blank ammunition.

He said the soldiers took live bullets to the scene for the purpose of self defence

Taiwo said a portion of the troops that operated at the tollgate on that night were indeed armed with live bullets.

We’re not allowed to release bodies of #ENDSARS protesters — Mainland Hospital

The management of Mainland Hospital, Lagos, says it received a directive from the state Ministry of Health not to release corpses of suspected #ENDSARS 

protesters.

Our correspondent visited the Mainland Hospital after the Chief Coroner of Lagos State, Mrs. Mojisola Dada,via a public announcement, directed relatives who had lost loved ones between October 19th and 27thto visit the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital to identify and claim bodies of their loved ones.

#EndSARS: Fashola discovers mystery camera at Lekki Toll Gate

The Minister for Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola on Sunday, discovered a hidden camera at the Lekki Toll Gate, Admiralty Circle, in Lagos.

Fashola, led a Federal Government delegation on the directive of  President Muhammadu Buhari to commiserate with the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the loss of lives and destruction of properties in the violence that rocked the state last week.

#EndSARS: Buhari sends ministers to woo stakeholders in home states

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent his ministers to their home states in a move to douse tensions that resulted from the #ENDSARS protests, the crisis that succeeded them and then sell the Federal government’s decision to ensure police reforms and other issues the youths raised.

I wanted to share looted palliatives on my birthday – Lagos lawmaker, SOB Agunbiade

A lawmaker, Sanai Agunbiade aka SOB, has reacted to the invasion of his residence by hoodlums.

Agunbiade is the Majority Leader of Lagos State House of Assembly.

On Friday, an irate mob stormed his house in Ikorodu and carted away COVID-19 palliatives.

Agunbiade (Ikorodu Constituency 1), in a statement on Saturday, described the incident as a planned attack.

I didn’t go nowhere; I’m still Asiwaju of Lagos – Tinubu

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has denied reports he jetted out of the country in the face of the looting and arson recorded in Lagos after the shooting of #ENDSARS protesters in Lekki.

He lamented the invasion and wanton looting of public and private assets in the state.

#EndSARS: Lagos assemblyman earmarks N10 million relief for Fagba victims

Mr Temitope Adewale, a Lagos lawmaker, says he has earmarked N10 million emergency relief fund for victims of the EndSARS clash at Fagba area of the state.

Adewale, representing Ifako-Ijaye Constituency 1 in Lagos House of Assembly, made this known to newsmen in Lagos on Friday.

BREAKING: Sanwo-Olu eases curfew, warns against protest

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the easing of the curfew imposed on the state.

The governor said people are allowed to go out between 8am and 6pm from Saturday.

He said, “We have decided that we are going to be easing the curfew from tomorrow (Saturday) morning; and what that easing means is that people will be allowed to go out from 8am to 6pm.

My heart goes out to all victims of Lekki shootings — Osinbajo

The Vice President also expressed grief over loss lives in Lagos and other parts of the country as a result of the #ENDSARS protests.

#EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate were attacked with guns on Oct. 20.

Osinbajo, in a series of tweets, said he had reached out to those in hospital and prayed that such would not happen again.

Nigerian celebrities express disappointment over Buhari’s address

Nigerian celebrities on Thursday night expressed disappointment over the address by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Popular artiste, Adekunle Gold, in a series of tweets, wondered why the President did not mention the Lekki shootings and killings in Zamfara.

#EndSARS: Women group urges govt to resolve crisis

A female group, Women in Management, Business and Public Service, has condemned the attack on peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate, Lagos State.

The group, in a statement on Wednesday, said extra-judicial killings across the country were unacceptable in a democracy.

WIMBIZ also commiserated with families who lost their loved ones in the ongoing demonstrations in the country.

[BREAKING] Violence: Obaseki relaxes curfew in Edo

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has reviewed the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on the state on Monday to quell civil disturbances in the wake of the hijack of #ENDSARS protests.

The curfew is now to commence from 4pm to 6am daily, starting from Friday, October 23, and would be reviewed after 72 hours.

#EndSARS: I stand by Nigerian youths, says Kalu

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has thrown his weight behind the Nigerian youths; who are calling for an end to police brutality in the country.

Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, expressed his feelings in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

The Senator, who represents Abia North,  condemned the criminal abuse of power by officers of the proscribed Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, stressing that such an act must stop.

IGP orders withdrawal of police officers attached to VIPs

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the withdrawal of all police officers attached to Very Important Persons across the country, with immediate effect.

The IG, however, exempted those attached to Government Houses, the Senate President and the Speaker House of Representatives, from the order.

This is coming 10 days after the police authorities disbanded the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, following protests against the squad for high handedness and extrajudicial killings.

#EndSARS: Youth who built blood donation app killed by stray bullet

A Product Designer, Oke Obi-Enadhuze, who helped built a blood donation app for Life Bank Services, has been killed by a stray bullet just moments after tweeting, ‘Nigeria won’t end me’.

Obi-Enadhuze, who was a fresh graduate of Computer Science from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, was shot in his home located on St.Paul Street, Mafoloku, Oshodi area of Lagos State on Wednesday.
