BREAKING: Buhari to address Nigerians today

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will address Nigerians at 7pm today (Monday).
This was contained in a statement by;
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

Buhari: Lockdown will last as long as necessary

THE ongoing lockdown in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Lagos and Ogun States may continue for as long as necessary, President Muhammadu Buhari hinted on Saturday.
The lockdown may even be extended to more states as the total confirmed cases in the country reached 318 last night.
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has, on his own, ordered that the state be shut down immediately.
Violators of the lockdown will be arrested, he said.
His Kano State counterpart, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, directed tricycle operators in the state to carry only one passenger for now following the detection of an infection in the state -a 75 year old man described as  a retired ambassador.

Police raid Rivers kidnappers’ den, kill one, recover arms

The Rivers State Police Command on Saturday raided suspected kidnappers’ den in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of the state, killing one fleeing suspect in the process.
The police also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition reportedly used by the gang to terrorise motorists and passengers along the Ogoni-Uyo axis of East-West Road.

Police Apprehend 28 Years Old Man Accused Of Raping Minor In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested one Adetayo Razaq for raping an eight-year-old girl in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The suspect was arrested on the 9th of April 2020 after the victim’s father reported at Ikorodu Police Station that his eight years old daughter was raped.

Separate Abacha loot from COVID-19 funds, HEDA tells FG

An advocacy group, Human and Environmental Development Agenda, has warned the Federal Government against mixing up the recovered $322m Abacha loot, being shared to poor Nigerians, with the COVID-19 funds donated by philanthropists.
The group said the government must let Nigerians know that the $322m Abacha loot, being shared as N5,000 Conditional Cash Transfer, is not the same as the palliative to cushion the economic effect of COVID-19 lockdown on the masses.

Bill Gates Seeks Funding From G-20 Members To Develop Vaccine Against Coronavirus

In order for the world to better contain the spread of the coronavirus, leaders of the Group of 20 (G-20) major economies should provide more funding to develop a vaccine, Bill Gates said.
In an opinion piece provided in South Korea exclusively to Yonhap News Agency on Sunday, Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, noted that COVID-19 had not yet affected many low- and middle-income countries, and said world leaders, particularly G-20 members, should step up efforts to keep it that way because it is “likely only a matter of time before one part of the planet reinfects another.”

Police arrest inspector filmed for collecting N40,000 bribe during lockdown

A policeman in the Okota axis of the Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State has been arrested for taking bribe from a motorist.
The inspector, whose name tag gave away in the video as ‘Taloju Martins’, was seen to be counting N1000 notes said to be 40 pieces.
