Drug addiction: NDLEA‘ll establish 6 standard rehab centres across Nigeria – Marwa

As part of efforts to treat the high number of persons suffering drug addiction in the country, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA will establish six standard rehabilitation centres, one in each geo-political zone of Nigeria.

This was disclosed in Abuja on Wednesday, 27th October 2021 by the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) at the 5th Biennial National Symposium on Drugs and Drug Policy in Nigeria organised by the Centre for Research and Information on Substance Abuse (CRISA).

Credible data key to fight against drug abuse - Marwa

Chairman/ Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has said that the use of credible data is essential in the fight against drug abuse even as he warned that the number of people using illicit drugs in Africa might rise by 40 percent in year 2030.

How NDLEA intercepted N6bn insurgents' drugs in Lagos port — Marwa

Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) on Wednesday 8th September, 2021 gave details of how loads of Captagon, a brand of Amphetamine meant for insurgents camps in Nigeria were intercepted by operatives of the Agency at the Apapa port in Lagos.

Barely a week after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, arrested a 70-year-old Nigerien who supplies Boko Haram and bandits illicit drugs; a 35-year-old Chadian who sells narcotics to the insurgents has been intercepted in Taraba state with assorted drugs.

NDLEA intercepts parcels of cocaine, heroin going to UK, Ireland, Australia

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has intercepted well-concealed and unaccompanied parcels of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and cannabis sativa being shipped to the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Australia, Maldives and New Zealand.

NDLEA intercepts 200kg of hard drugs at Lagos, Abuja, Kano airports

Attempts by some defiant traffickers to export hard drugs through the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos; Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano have been foiled by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with 200 kilogrammes of the illicit substances seized from them.

At the Lagos airport, a 41-year-old Adewuyi Olayinka was arrested while trying to export 650 grammes of cocaine wrapped in two parcels to the United Kingdom through the SAHCO export shed of the MMIA cargo, Ikeja.
