Facebook redesigns Safety Centre to protect users

The Chief Security Officer at Facebook, Mr Alex Stamos, says the company has redesigned its Safety Centre to enable people stay safe online.
Stamos said in a statement on Friday in Lagos that the redesigned safety centre was the company’s approach to making the internet more secure for everyone.
The statement said that keeping people and their information safe was a core part of helping the community to grow, connect and support each other.

Google, Facebook team on undersea cable to Hong Kong

Google and Facebook on Wednesday announced plans to work with a China Soft Power Holdings subsidiary to connect Los Angeles and Hong Kong with a high-capacity internet cable.
The Pacific Light Cable Network will stretch 12,800 kilometers (8,000 miles), crossing beneath the Pacific Ocean in a first-of-its-kind direct connection between the two locations, according to companies involved with the project.

Instagram adds feature that will change how you view photos

It's time to brush up on your photo editing skills. Instagram is rolling out a feature that will let people get a closer, more intimate look at your pictures.
Appropriately called Zoom, the new addition will let people zoom in on photos and videos in their feeds.
The move is a welcomed one for avid Instagram users; one that feels intuitive for those used to zooming in on mobile photos.

Facebook to embrace more Nigerian languages, says Zuckerberg

The Founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has pledged to use Nigerian languages in offering services on Facebook.
Zuckerberg, who is currently on a business visit to Nigeria, made the promise at a meeting with software developers and ICT entrepreneurs on Wednesday in Lagos.

Court jails teenager over Facebook posts

A Malaysian teenager was sentenced to one year in jail on Tuesday over Facebook posts which insulted the royal family in a Southern state, the Deputy Public Prosecutor said.
