In furtherance of the restriction order on operations of motorcycles popularly called Okaka in the 6 Local Government Areas of the state, the Lagos State Police Command has constituted a special squad to embark on massive arrest of okada operators who violate the restriction order while their motorcycles are being impounded.

The Sarki overall of Alimosho local government, HRH Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Kuraja, has in the wake of recurring confrontations between commercial motorcycle operators (Okada Riders) and security operatives (The Police), in Lagos, called on operators especially of northern extraction to guard against throwing caution to the wind, even, as he frowned at misapplication of mandate by some security personnel.

Lagos CP Blames Okada Riders For Crime Rate

Statistics have shown that armed hoodlums who operate on Okada, are responsible for bulk of the crimes in Lagos State.

According to Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, hoodlums had found okada as a veritable means of escape from the scenes of crime.
