Omawumi walks out of interview after questions on smoking, drinking

Award winning songster, Omawumi Megbele, known by her stage name Omawumi, recently stormed out of an interview set when asked about her smoking and drinking habit.

The interview on Da Chat with HFTv literally took an unexpected turn after the singer was asked about her alleged smoking and drinking habit.
The interviewer said, “There is some controversy about you in the industry where people say Omawumi is a mother, she is doing motherhood. It’s amazing because young girls want to be like her but how does she keep this drinking and smoking habit away from her kids?
The mother of three, angered by the question, stammered, turned to ask the interviewer if she had seen her smoke or drink before.
Omawumi said, “I will not honour you with a response. I feel like that is a taint to my character.
“Have you seen me smoking before? Why should you ask me such a question?”
When the presenter said no, the singer responded, “So why would you say that?
“You see me as an artist, I am contributing what I can. I make music the way that I should and I come here and honour your invitation and then you sit down and talk about my smoking & drinking to people that are listening.”
Omawumi maintained that the presenter does not wish her well for bringing up such a topic in an interview that will hit the internet, where it’s capable of damaging her image before her fans.
She said, “And you are supposed to mean me well, when these people are supposed to be the ones that are buying my music. Now, when you say that sort of thing, do you mean me well?
In an obvious angst and in an amplified pitch, the ‘Megbele’ crooner asked repeatedly, “Have you seen me smoking before? So, why would you say something that you have not seen me do before?
“You can’t ask me to kill a rumour that you are not sure about. So first and foremost, as a rumour, you need to go and dig and get your facts right before you ask somebody something.
“So I will maintain that if you have not seen me smoking and you come out and say it on a National TV, that means you don’t mean me well and that is the end of this interview,” the 34-year-old Delta State-born walked out of the interview set as she dropped her last line to the interviewer…”And you will publish it o.”
