Land Use Charge Protest: Police, DSS Lay Seige To NBA Ikeja Branch Secretariat

Scores of security men including officials of the Department of State Security led by DCP Operations, Lagos State Police Command, A.

Mohammed, have invaded the Nigerian Bar Association office, Ikeja Branch.

The siege followed a threat by the NBA led by its Chairman, Adesina Ogunlana, to call out members on a protest tomorrow to coincide with President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Lagos.

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday declared Thursday, March 29 as work free day in the State.

A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan disclosed that this will enable Lagosians come out enmasse to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari who is on a historic two-day visit to Lagos State.

Visionscape To Take Delivery Of 180 New Trucks, Identifies 5,000 Illegal Refuse Dumps

Visionscape Sanitation Solutions on Friday disclosed that it will take delivery of another 180 new trucks before next month.

The body also disclosed that it had discovered 5,000 black spots across the Lagos metropolis where Lagosians dumped refused illegally.

Speaking at an interactive session with the media in Victoria Island, Lagos, the Chief Operations Officer, Visionscape Sanitation Solutions, Thomas Forgacs, said currently, the company has 131 trucks at its disposal to cart away refuse in the state.

Release Of Last Dapchi Schoolgirl: I Was Misquoted – IGP

Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has said he was misquoted concerning the release of the last abducted schoolgirl in Dapchi, Leah Sharibu.


Idris had on Saturday been quoted at the Military Command Headquarters in Maiduguri, Borno State as saying Sharibu was scheduled to be released on Saturday (yesterday).

But a statement in the early hours of Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, said Idris was misquoted.

T. Y. Danjuma: Armed Forces Conniving With Killers, Urges Nigerians Defend Themselves

Retired Lieutenant General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma has urged Nigerians to defend  themselves against killers across the country instead of depending on the armed forces.

Danjuma, a former Chief of Army Staff from 1976-1979, said this on Saturday in a live telecast programme of the 10th anniversary of the Taraba State University, Jalingo.

Soyinka to Buhari: Stop shedding unjust tears, deal with bloodthirsty terrorists

Renowned playwright and Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop shedding unjust tears and deal with bloodthirsty terrorists unleashing mayhem in the country.

He also described the proposed death sentence as punishment for hate speech in Nigeria currently being deliberated in the National Assembly as an instrument to silence fierce criticism and opposition in the county.
