Smuggled vehicles: Customs to auction vehicles imported by Imo government

The Comptroller-General of Customs, retired Col. Hameed Ali, says the service would auction seized vehicles belonging to the Imo Government.
The vehicles were brought into Nigeria without payment of customs duty.

Brazil legend Carlos Alberto dies at 72

Brazilian football legend Carlos Alberto has died aged 72, according to media reports.
Alberto, who captained Brazil to victory at the 1970 World Cup, reportedly died after suffering a heart attack.

Boko Haram: Troops arrest nine suspected collaborators

Nigerian troops have arrested another nine suspects said to be aiding the Boko Haram sect in the North East Zone, bringing the number of those caught in the last two days to 30.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by army spokesman, Col. Sani Usman, the suspects included two officers, two soldiers, two policemen and 26 civilians.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has denied the allegation made by Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim that its official asked for $1m bribe before his name could be listed as the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.

FG may increase fuel price as NNPC says N145 not sustainable

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has said it can no longer sustain the sale of petrol at N145 per litre.
Recall that Labour last month warned against increment in pump price.
Speaking yesterday, Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing of the NNPC, Mele Kyari, said with the current price of foreign exchange, it was no longer feasible selling petrol at N145 per litre.

Delta community holds SSG hostage over herdsmen’s attack

Osissa community in the Ndokwa-East Local Government Area of Delta State are currently protesting and holding the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Festus Ovie Agas, and his convoy hostage over the alleged killing of three members of the community by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The protesters numbering over one thousand intercepted the convoy of the SSG who was traveling to Asaba after spending the weekend with his family in Ughelli at about 6:55am along the Ughelli-Asaba express on Monday.
