I am in touch with Niger Delta militants – Jonathan

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has disclosed that he was in touch with the Niger Delta militants to ensure that there is peace in the oil rich region.
He made this disclosure on Wednesday when he visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa, Abuja.
Recall that the militant group had few days ago stated that it backed out of its plan to declare Niger Delta Republic following the intervention of Jonathan and other leaders from the community.

Avengers reply Buhari, demand referendum

THE  Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, yesterday, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to call for a referendum for Nigerians to decide if they want to stay as one country or not, just like Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK),  David Cameron, did over the UK membership of the European Union EU.

NDA, which unveiled its plan for what it called a Sovereign State of Niger Delta, on May 12, made the call while reacting to last Friday’s appeal by Buhari to Niger Delta militants, in God’s name, to cease the bombing of oil and gas installations in the region. The militant group, in separate  responses to    Sunday Vanguard inquiries at 2.04 pm and 2.56 pm respectively, yesterday, said:

Many feared killed in Ogun as militants strike again

Many people were feared killed when militants swooped on Elepete and Igbo Olomu communities in Ogijo area of Ogun State on Thursday night.
The communities are not to be far from Imushin, a community where no fewer than 15 people were killed by militants on Friday last week.
In the latest attack, at Elepete and Igbo Olomu, a source within one of the communities, who spoke anonymously, said several of the victims were landlords.

Militants kill eight in Lagos, Ogun communities

Suspected militants have killed eight residents of Igbo Olomu, Bolorunduro, Ajegunle, and Oke Muti, boundary communities of Lagos and Ogun states.

We can’t destroy ourselves in order to make a point, Okowa tells ND Avengers

DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Thursday, appealed to militants blowing up oil installations in the state to reconsider their actions, as bombing of oil facilities by them was affecting the state.
