FRSC LAGOS TO BEGIN CLAMPDOWN OF OKADA/TRICYCLE AND DISPATCH RIDERS WITHOUT VALID CLASS A DRIVER'S LICENCE

The Sector Commander FRSC Lagos Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide has directed that all Motorcycles (Okada), Tricycles (Keke) and dispatch riders are to obtain the approved Nigeria Driver's Licence Class A as this is the only legal document that conferred on a rider the right to ply the Nigerian road.

Ogungbemide made this declaration in response to the fall out of the meeting held with Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA) where it was agreed that riders should get Class A category of driver's licence.

This has not negates Riders card being put in place by the State for administrative/record purpose.

Riders are therefore advised to visit FRSC driver's licence centres closest to them to avoid been arrested by law enforcement agencies.

He added that presently in Lagos there are over 23 Driver's licence centres and 29 Workstations at different locations across the state, hence no excuse for failure to obtain the licence.

He finally stated that anyone apprehended for Driver's licence violation will be issued a fine for driving without a valid licence and be will sanctioned in line with National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR).

Meanwhile, all restricted routes for Motorcycles (Okada), Tricycles (keke) and dispatch riders as stipulated by the State Government are to be strictly adhered to.

He reiterated that road safety is a joint responsibility that begins with all motorists.
