REVEAL SENSITIVE INFORMATION, GET YOURSELF IN TROUBLE - ACG TALABI WARNS IMMIGRATION OFFICERS ON VISIT TO LAGOS COMMAND COMPTROLLER, CIS BAUCHI ALIYU

The Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration, Zone A, ACG Oluremi Ajoke Talabi pcc has warned all men and officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to desist from the act of releasing sensitive and confidential information to the public.

She made this note of caution when she paid a working visit to the Lagos State Command during the week.

The Zonal Coordinator of the Immigration Service was received by the Comptroller, Lagos State Command, CIS Bauchi Aliyu fsi, pcc+.

In a press statement e-signed and released by the Command's Spokesperson, Mr. Jide Ogungbe to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) stated that the Zonal Coordinator of the Nigerian Immigration Service, ACG Oluremi Ajoke Talabi was on a working visit to the Lagos State Command.


While commending the officers for a yeoman’s job during her address, ACG Talabi however warned against revealing any official information that is meant to be treated as confidential.

She advised officers to adopt ‘a need to know basis principle’ in managing information.

ACG Oluremi Ajoke Talabi pcc also used the opportunity to call for utmost professionalism in the overall interest of Nigeria in line with the administrative policies of President Muhammadu Buhari and Comptroller General of Customs, Colonel Hammed Alli, retd.


In addition, the ACG mandated officers to be watchful for fraudulent documents and revealed that the Service is currently implementing electronic-powered mechanisms that'll make it easier to identify fraudulent documents, NAOSNP gathered.

Also speaking, the CIS of Lagos Command, CIS Bauchi Aliyu gave a detailed account to the Zonal Coordinator with specific regards to the challenges and developments in the Command.

He revealed that his first project from the moment he arrived was to improve the condition of LSC's Provisional and Annex offices, a task he disclosed has been accomplished strictly through Corporate Social Responsibility, CRS, supports from friends of the Service.


CIS Aliyu also revealed that he was able to construct both the Quarter Guard and Parade Ground through the same donations.

He informed the Zonal Coordinator that he has formed a committee that is presently working on the development of a compendium that would offer a concise interpretative collection of the most frequently violated Immigration laws for the sensitization of stakeholders.

The spokesperson of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Lagos Command, Jide Ogungbe added that the Command has enjoyed a good relationship with the Lagos State Government which has enhanced its operation.

This collaboration has resulted in the setting up of a Security Forum headed by the Secretary to the State Government for Intel and ideas sharing amongst security agencies in the state.


A recent visit of Comptroller Aliyu to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has also yielded a donation of land by the Governor to accommodate the construction of the Service Headquarters structure in Lagos.

This structure will greatly help the administrative processes of Lagos State Command which prides itself has the Command with the largest number of immigration personnel in Nigeria.

It should be noted that Zone A under the purview of ACG Oluremi Talabi comprises Lagos State Command, Ogun State Command, Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Command, Seme Border Command, Lagos Border Patrol Command, Idiroko Border Command, Lagos Seaport and Marine Command as well as the Passport Control Command.
