President Orders Shooting Of Drug Traffickers

The president has previously been criticised for ordering executions against convicted drug traffickers who were given the death penalty by courts.

President Joko Widodo of Indonesia wants a permanent end to drug peddling.

He says peddlers are destroying his people and he wants them shot if they refuse to be arrested peacefully.

The instruction is part of emergency efforts to tackle narcotic use in the South-East Asia nation.

“Be firm, especially to foreign drug dealers who enter the country and resist arrest,” Widodo told law enforcement officers on Monday.

Lola Margaret has left an Atlanta jail in America after she was allegedly accused of money laundering and card fraud.

Yoruba actress, Lola Margaret Oladipupo has finally been released from an Atlanta jail weeks after she was arrested over card fraud and money laundering allegations.

The Atlanta police detained the actress over claims that she attempted to withdraw suspicious sums from her account.

Army Demotes Major-General To Brigadier-General

Ibrahim Sani, one time Chief of Transformation and Innovation Centre of the Nigerian Army has been demoted after he was convicted for cheating.

Sani had been standing trial in the court since 2015 after he was accused of dividing and allocating army land to himself.

The court sat at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.

The President of the court, AVM James Gbum ordered the convict to return N23 million being the money he got after he sold the part of the army land.

The Lagos State Government has announced restriction of vehicular movement in the State on Saturday July 22, 2017 in view of the elections that will hold across the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the State.

In a press release on Sunday by the State's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the restriction of movement across the State will be enforced between 8am and 2pm on Saturday July 22, to allow for a smooth conduct of the polls and unhindered participation.

The Proposed New Lagos State Danfo Bus

Here is the First Look at the proposed New Lagos State Danfo Bus as replacement of the existing Yellow Danfo Busses by The Lagos State Government.

Lagos Sate Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode while addressing journalist back in March, said that the proposed Bus Reform Initiative was aimed at giving Lagosians an integrated public transportation system and it would kick start this year with a sinking fund of N30billion.

He said the Bus Reform Initiative is a three-year plan aimed at introducing over 5000 air-conditioned buses to replace the yellow commercial buses, popularly called Danfo, which according to him, was no longer befitting for the State’s mega city status.

Container crushes 5 to death at Ojota, three hospitalised

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Saturday, when an articulated truck suddenly overturned its container on a Volkswagen commercial bus, popularly called, “Danfo” at Ojota,” along Ikorodu Road, killing at least five passengers and injuring three others who were rescued alive in the process.

According to wailing eyewitness, the tragedy occurred at Ojota Bus Sopt, Ikorodu Road at bout 4:02am when the articulated truck, with registration number AKD 663 KF conveying 40 feet container fell on the Danfo, with registration number FST 944 XR, and trapped the occupants.

…Gov Ambode Has Made Nigeria Proud- NAHCON

Commissioner Lagos State Government on Friday beat 35 other States to bag the prestigious award for the best performing State in the 2016 Hajj Operations in Nigeria.

The award was one out of the six the State also won for its excellent performance throughout the duration of the 2016 Hajj exercise in Mecca and Medina.

Other awards won by the State include Best State in Coordination of pilgrims airlift, Best State in E-Track Management, Second Best State in pilgrims education and enlightenment programme, Second Best State in Taradudiyyah Exercise, Third Best State in provision of pilgrims accommodation and Third Best State in coordination of pilgrims feeding.

FIFA suspends Sudan for ‘government interference’

FIFA said Friday it had suspended Sudan with immediate effect due to government interference in the Sudan Football Association (SFA).

The decision bans the Sudanese national team from playing international matches and bars the country’s clubs from all continental competitions. Al-Hilal, Al Merreikh and Al-Hilal Obeid won’t be able to participate in Africa’s two top club competitions, the Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

The Senator representing Lagos East senatorial district, Gbenga Ashafa has, through a press statement released via his social media feeds, decried the rising incidents of jungle justice in the Ikorodu area.

In the statement, Senator Ashafa commended the people of Ikorodu for resisting the existence of the group within their community.

The association of traditional medicine practitioners says they have the panacea to President Muhammadu Buhari’s ailment.

Members of the National Association of the Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners [NANTMP], has urged the Presidency to, as a matter of urgency, bring back President Muhammadu Buhari from the United Kingdom as they have all it takes to heal him. 

According to the Patron of the body, Dr. Adesunmiboye Fawawo, whatever ailment the President is battling with can only be cured by traditional medicine if only the Presidency consults them.

UNIOSUN students in violent protests over disappearance of their colleagues



The streets of Olaiya in Osogbo and others were on Wednesday flooded by students of the Osun State University who are protesting over the constant disappearance of their colleagues.

Reports say undergraduates of the University are burning things and vandalising properties following the recent disappearance of a 400 level student of Microbiology Department whose lifeless body was found days later.

Sources say the undergraduate was called out by a neighbour, Sakariyau Abdulrofiu, 10 days ago only for his corpse to be found at the back of an Alfa’s house.

Student in Nigeria develops cure for breast cancer

A female student of the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, Sandra Musujusu, has developed an alternative treatment for breast cancer.
 scientific breakthrough might lead to a lasting solution in the treatment of breast cancer prevalent among women world over.
This was made known on Tuesday in Abuja when the World Bank Education Director, Dr Jaime Saavedra Chanduvi with his team visited the University as part of his assessment tour of the 10 African Centres of Excellence (ACE) centres.
