Fuel tanker drivers debunk strike rumours

The Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD, of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, Sunday, debunked rumours making the rounds that its members are embarking on strike action.

The National Chairman of PTD, Comrade Salimon Oladiti, while debunking the purported industrial action, in a statement, described it as false, unfounded and figment of imagination of the peddlers.

Oladiti explained that the union is dissociating itself from any form of industrial action and enjoined all members to continue in their strive to effectively distribute fuel products across the country.

Comrade Oladiti commended Government effort at ameliorating the hardship faced by Nigerians in the wake of the fuel scarcity and thus warned any members that join in any strike action does so at his own risk.

The National Chairman also informed of the successes recorded at the recent training exercise for over 1,000 members of the Union in Lagos Area as a prelude to similar training programmes in other parts of the country. He therefore calls on all to be alive to their responsibilities and work assiduously in the interest of the nation.
