25% End-Of-Year bonus to Lagos worker - Ambode

Lagos State Governor
Workers under the employ of the Lagos State Government on Monday lauded the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode over the payment of 25 percent of basic salary as End-of-the-Year Bonus to them including employees of local governments and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
Some of the workers who spoke with journalists expressed deep appreciation and delights over what they described as one of the numerous steps taken by the Governor to accord public servants in the state their rightful position in the scheme of things and better their lot.

According to Jamiu Olawale, though previous administration in the state had been paying end of the year bonuses ranging between 10 percent and 15 percent of their basic salary, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s gesture of paying 25 percent is not only a welcome development but also commendable.

Another worker who gave his name as Oluwafemi Braimah, said that recognizing the importance of the public service as the engine room for government, the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has continued to embark on capacity building which has further enhanced staff productivity, and is doing everything that would make life more comfortable for public servants in the state and the general public at large.

“In addition, the present administration has also restored the dignity of the public service through the various reform programmes geared towards professionalism and competence to enhance service delivery in the state”, Braimah said.

A director in the Ministry of Establishment and Training who preferred anonymity said that since the inception of the Ambode’s administration, public servants have been appointed as head of key government agencies where they have continued to display great professionalism and competence in their areas of assigned responsibilities.

“In return, Lagos State workers have resolved to reciprocate government gesture by rededicating themselves for improved performance and better service delivery as they collaborate with the state government in building a better and prosperous Lagos that will become a model megacity that will be the pride of the Blackman”, she said.
