Adeyemi seeks N60m for cancer surgeries

IN 2012, Mobolaji Adeyemi, 37, a public speaker and graduate of Crop Protection and Environmental Biology at the University of Ibadan, was diagnosed with malignant cancer of the mouth and neck (Mucoepidermoid carcinoma).

He went through surgery at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, had  a neck dissection and entire upper jaw and dentition removed.

Nigeria in trouble if Buhari’s anti-corruption fails – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has warned that Nigeria would be plunged into deep trouble if the present war against corruption was not won.

He said that corruption was fiercely waging reprisal attacks in the States, but assured the public that President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to sustaining the anti-corruption fight to ensure that the system was cleaned up and government business done the right way. He also called for a re-orientation of the Nigerian people.

Dogara earns N300,000

Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the House of Representatives, today through his spokesperson, Turaki Hissan released his pay slips for six months.

The documents showed the breakdown of the speaker’s salary for October, November, December 2016 and January, February, March 2017.

Man rapes prostitute in Lagos

An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday remanded a 40-year-old bricklayer, Edet Imoh, in prison, charged with raping a sex worker. Imoh is facing a two-count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Nicholas Akpene, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 11 at 2.30a.m. on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. He said the accused raped the sex worker (name withheld) and also stole her property.

Argentina fire coach Edgardo Bauza

Argentina’s football association fired Edgardo Bauza as coach of the crisis-hit national team as it struggles to qualify for next year’s World Cup, the head of the body said Monday. It was the first big move by the Argentine Football Association (AFA) since it last month picked new executives tasked with ending three years of turmoil in the Argentine game.


“We have reached a verbal agreement. We have told Edgardo Bauza that he is no longer the coach of Argentina,” the AFA’s new president Claudio Tapia told reporters after meeting with Bauza at the association’s headquarters. He did not say who Bauza’s replacement would be, but said more details would be given at a news conference for Tuesday at 2230 GMT at the AFA.

Boko Haram: Trump to sell $600m fighter planes to Nigeria

The United States  has agreed to sell high-tech aircraft to Nigeria to tackle  the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East.
United States officials told the Associated Press that the Congress was  expected to receive formal notification within weeks, setting in motion the deal with Nigeria.
They added that the arrangement would call for Nigeria purchasing up to 12 Embraer A-29 Super Tucano aircraft with sophisticated targeting gear.
