14 Nigeria prisons officers suspended over Abuja jailbreak

The Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) has approved the suspension of four senior officers following the recent escape of two high profile inmates, Solomon Amodu and Maxwell Ajukwu, from Kuje Medium Security Prison.

How Buhari, governors can be arrested, prosecuted while in office — Falana

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, on Saturday said the era of absolute immunity had gone and that President Muhammadu Buhari, his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo and  governors who committed criminal act could be arrested while in office and taken for trials.

Mr. Falana said this while speaking on: “Limit of executive immunity” in Benin to mark the 60th birthday of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Edo, Prof. Julius Ihonvebere.

We want to dialogue with Niger Delta Avengers, others – Nigerian Government

The Nigerian government has expressed its commitment to dialogue with militants in the Niger Delta.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, said on Saturday that the presence of soldiers in the region does not mean the government was opposed to dialogue.

Herdsmen kill ECWA pastor, dismember body

A clergyman of the Evangelical Church of West Africa, Reverend Zakariya, has been killed by attackers suspected to be herdsmen in Nasarawa State.
Three of the killed pastor’s children are said to be in the university.

Zakariya was murdered on Thursday on his farm by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Obi Local Government Area of the state.
According to a Twitter user, @uncanny_sam, who announced the death of the clergyman, Zakariya will be buried on Tuesday.

Fayose: Police get 102 petitions

The office of the Inspector General of Police as received not less than 102 petitions against the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, investigations by one of our correspondents have revealed.

The petitions were said to have been written by those alleged to have either been harassed, beaten or detained before, during, and after the last governorship election in the state.
