11 fake Naval officers arrested in Rivers

ELEVEN men suspected to be fake naval officers have been arrested in Rivers State.
The suspects were said to have been parading themselves as navy personnel with different ranks before they were apprehended around the Rukpokwu Police checkpoint.

Ex-minister Ojo Maduekwe dies at 71

A former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, is dead. He died in Abuja on Wednesday evening.
The cause of his death was however unknown, but the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Walid Jibril, confirmed his death.
Until his death, Maduekwe was the secretary of the PDP BoT.

Literary icon, Elechi Amadi, is dead

Popular Nigerian author, Capt. Elechi Amadi, has died aged 82.

Amadi, who wrote famous books like The ConcubineIsiburuSunset in Biafra, andPeppersoup and The Road to Ibadan, died at about 3:15pm on Wednesday, about a week after he became ill.
A close confidant to the literary icon told our correspondent that the deceased was billed to be at Wednesday’s annual book reading programme organised in Port Harcourt by Total Exploration and Production, but could not make it as a result of his ill health.

Woman burns boy’s genitals for stealing N100

The police in Lagos State have arrested a woman identified simply as Saratu, for allegedly burning the private parts of her seven-year-old nephew, Razak Qudus.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Saratu allegedly burnt the boy’s private parts with a stove after he was accused of stealing N100.

How Rickey Tarfa paid money into judges’ accounts — EFCC

An Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s witness in the ongoing trial of Mr. Rickey Tarfa (SAN) has revealed how Tarfa allegedly paid money into the bank account of two federal High Court judges.
The witness, Tosin Owobo, said this while being led in evidence by the counsel for the EFCC, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo.
Tarfa is standing trial before Justice A.A. Akintoye of a Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere.
