If Fashola were Igbo, he would have left Tinubu – Kalu


A former Governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu, has said Igbo people are better traders than politicians.
Kalu said the lack of understanding of politics and the indiscipline of Igbo politicians were responsible for what he called the political backwardness of the South-East.
He said the political fortune of the Igbo would have been better had their politicians approached politics like the Yoruba.

Kukah visits Obanikoro, Fani-Kayode, Abati in detention

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Father Mathew Kukah, on Monday paid an unscheduled visit to the detention facility of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja.
A statement signed by the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said that the cleric prayed with three top operatives of the former administration who are currently in detention at the facility.

Skye Bank sacks 50 more workers

About four months after it disengaged about 200 of its workers, Skye Bank Plc has retrenched about 50 members of staff, including those in outsourced and auxiliary functions.
Although the number of the affected non-core employees could not be ascertained since they were not direct workers of the bank, it was gathered that the reasons for their exit ranged from non-performance, disciplinary issues as well as rightsizing by the lender.

Police deny knowledge of Anambra sex scandal

The Anambra State Police Command on Saturday said it had no knowledge of the sex scandal involving the 2015 winner of the Miss Anambra competition, Chidimma Okeke.
Chidimma’s alleged lesbian video had gone viral on the social media shortly after she was abruptly dethroned last week by the organisers of the pageant, the Anambra Broadcasting Service.

Man treks from Lagos to Zaria for lover

A 26-year-old man, Tunde Agbaje, has reportedly trekked from the Ketu area of Lagos State to Zaria in Kaduna State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Agbaje, who is the cousin of a former People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, went on the adventure to prove his love for a lady, Sharon Donald.

Lawyer begs court to stop national assets sale

A Lagos-based lawyer, Kabir Akingbolu, has urged a Federal High Court in Lagos to perpetually restrain President Muhammadu Buhari from executing his proposed plan to sell some national assets as a measure to tackle the economic doldrums in the country.

The lawyer said in his suit that Buhari planned to sell national assets such as the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the Port Harcourt Refining Group Ltd, the Kaduna Refining Group Ltd, the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Ltd, the Africa Finance Corporation, the East West Rail Lines and the West African Gas Pipelines.
