Messi back for Argentina’s World Cup duel with Brazil

Lionel Messi was named in Argentina’s squad for their heavyweight World Cup clash against bitter rivals Brazil on Friday having missed the last three fixtures through injury. Messi had been sidelined from international duty with a thigh injury but buoyed by a midweek hat-trick for Barcelona in the Champions League against Manchester City, he returns to an Argentina team struggling in fifth spot in World Cup qualifying.

Lover stabs fiance to death two months to wedding

Tragedy struck in Ijebu-Ode when a -23-year-old lover, Omolara Abosede reportedly stabbed her husband-to-be Sodiq Dauda  to death over disagreement.
The incident occured on Tuesday,  October 18,2016 at no 10, Onirugba street,  Ijebu-Ode when Dauda reportedly beat his lover for alleged misappropriation of family fund.

Lady stabs fiance to death over mismanagement of funds

The Ogun Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old lady, Abosede Omolare, for allegedly killing her fiance, Sadiq Dauda, who she was engaged to marry in December. Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), made the disclosure while addressing news conference on Friday in Abeokuta.

Pastor Ukpong to Justice Okoro: You lied against me

A bosom friend of the embattled Justice Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court, Pastor Ebebe Ukpong, yesterday, disowned the claim by the judge that he led the Akwa Ibom State All Progressive Congress Governorship Candidate, Mr. Umana Umana, to his home to lobby for his victory at the apex court.

Pastor Ukpong, a former Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Education and Economic Development, said in a statement made available to Saturday Vanguard in Abuja last night, that he had never in his lifetime led anyone to Justice Okoro for any political reason and will never do so as a child of God.

Mother kills eight-year-old son who caught her having sex with grandfather

A mother, Veronica Panarello, received a 30-year jail term for murdering her son because he discovered she was having an affair with his grandfather.
Veronica Panarello strangled her son Loris Stival with electrical cables then abandoned his body in a remote gully in Santa Croce, Sicily, Metro UK reported.

On October 19, 1986, precisely 30 years ago, Dele Giwa, a frontline, intelligent and enterprising journalist, trained in the United States of America, was assassinated through a letter bomb, the first of its kind in the history of Nigeria.
Giwa was the founding Editor-in-Chief of Newswatch magazine, a magazine which blazed the trail of journalistic revolution in Nigeria. The sad incident took place during the military regime of Ibrahim Babangida.
