FG fires 20 FAAN directors, managers

About 21 senior officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria were on Wednesday sacked in a major shake-up.
Those affected, including directors, general managers and deputy general managers, were reportedly handed their termination of appointment letters.
Sources at the head office of FAAN in Lagos told our correspondent that no fewer than 10 general managers were reportedly demoted. They were said to have earlier been improperly promoted.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared a manhunt for business mogul, Goodie Ibru, over alleged diversion of billions of naira and assets belonging to the Ikeja Hotels Plc.
The Ikeja Hotels Plc are the owners of the Lagos Sheraton Hotel and the Federal Palace Hotel, Abuja.

Google, Facebook team on undersea cable to Hong Kong

Google and Facebook on Wednesday announced plans to work with a China Soft Power Holdings subsidiary to connect Los Angeles and Hong Kong with a high-capacity internet cable.
The Pacific Light Cable Network will stretch 12,800 kilometers (8,000 miles), crossing beneath the Pacific Ocean in a first-of-its-kind direct connection between the two locations, according to companies involved with the project.

Driver absconds with N7.2m fuel, girlfriend, guarantor remanded

The police in Lagos have arrested a 25-year-old woman, Joy Okeke, after her boyfriend, Ofoagbu Ekene, reportedly diverted 40,000 litres of diesel worth N7.2m and fled.
Okeke was apprehended along with a teacher, Lukman Kelani, who was said to have stood as a guarantor of the fleeing suspect at Northbridge Oil, which employed him as a driver.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the company had sent Ekene to deliver the fuel at a filling station in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on October 1.

Reps ask FG to declare state of emergency on kidnapping

The House of Representatives on Wednesday called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on kidnapping in the country to curb escalating kidnapping cases.
It said the police, the armed forces and telecommunications service providers should also convene a national security summit to find urgent solutions to rising kidnapping incidents.

Toyota recalls 340,000 Prius globally over brake issue

Toyota Motor Corp said on Wednesday it was recalling around 340,000 of its latest Prius gasoline hybrid model in Japan and overseas to fix a parking brake issue.

FG set to employ 200,000 graduate teachers


The Federal Government says the implementation plan for effective commencement of its social investment programmes has reached an advanced stage.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who stated this yesterday, said the selection of the first 200,000 unemployed graduates for teaching jobs was being completed.
