IG warns against illegal sealing of base stations

The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has warned against the illegal sealing of telecommunications masts and base transceiver stations, saying perpetrators of the act will be prosecuted in line with the Cyber Crime (Prohibition and Prevention) Act, 2015.

He also cautioned police formations to desist from being used in the illegal sealing of base stations, describing them as critical national infrastructure which must be protected from damage and vandalism.

Families abandon corpses in Abuja hospital‎ – Medical Director

The Garki National Hospital, Abuja, said on Thursday that it had about 22 human corpses abandoned by their relatives.

The hospital’s Group Medical Director, Dr. Elijah Miner said  this during a visit of a delegation from the National Human Rights Commission to his office.

The NHRC delegation was led by the Executive Secretary, Prof Bem Angwe.

Miner said some of the deceased were victims of bomb blasts.

Canadian authorities have detained a 30-year-old South Sudanese man for lying about his age, saying he claimed to be 17 in order to play high school basketball.

According to an Immigration and Refugee Board hearing transcript obtained by AFPThursday, Jonathan Nicola received a full athletic scholarship to play basketball at a Catholic school in Windsor, Ontario.
