Families abandon corpses in Abuja hospital‎ – Medical Director

The Garki National Hospital, Abuja, said on Thursday that it had about 22 human corpses abandoned by their relatives.
The hospital’s Group Medical Director, Dr. Elijah Miner said  this during a visit of a delegation from the National Human Rights Commission to his office.
The NHRC delegation was led by the Executive Secretary, Prof Bem Angwe.
Miner said some of the deceased were victims of bomb blasts.

EFCC begins manhunt for Diezani’s son

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has launched a manhunt for Ugonna, son to the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Canada detains man posing as 17-year-old student

Canadian authorities have detained a 30-year-old South Sudanese man for lying about his age, saying he claimed to be 17 in order to play high school basketball.
According to an Immigration and Refugee Board hearing transcript obtained by AFPThursday, Jonathan Nicola received a full athletic scholarship to play basketball at a Catholic school in Windsor, Ontario.

Drinking beer good for weight loss – Study

Researchers at the Oregon State University have said taking beer can help people lose weight.
In the report, which was published in the journal Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, researchers say weight loss is one of the effects of  xanthohumol, a natural flavonoid found in hops.
