FCT Court summons Gbajabiamila over alleged perjury

- Femi Gbajabiamila has been summoned by a court in the FCT over alleged perjury just days before he is due to contest for the position of Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives.

- The perjury case was filed against him by Action Peoples Party (APP) which claimed he had been lying to INEC is his forms to the electoral body since 2003 - The party claimed Gbajabiamila failed to mention that he was allegedly convicted of a crime by a Georgia Supreme Court when he was a lawyer in the United States of America Majority leader of the House of Representatives in the outgoing 8th National Assembly Femi Gbajabiamila, has been summoned to appear before a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) court.

Breaking: Suspected assassins reportedly storm Okorocha’s house

Suspected hired assassins have reportedly stormed the house of the former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha. The Nation reports that the unknown gunmen raided Okoorhca’s house located Ogboko, Ideato South Council Area of Imo State.

The incident happened on the night on Friday, May 31 as the gunmen reportedly overpowered security operatives and gained entraceinto the main building.

Buhari told me he chose Gbajabiamila for Speaker not Tinubu – El-Rufai makes revelations

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has declared that House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila (APC, Lagos) was being backed by President Muhammadu Buhari himself, and not the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu as is supposed in some quarters.
El-Rufai stated this on Friday when the Femi/Wase Campaign, alongside over 120 other lawmakers, paid him a visit at the Kaduna State Government House.
“There was a misconception that Femi’s candidature was from Bola Tinubu but the fact is that it was President Muhammadu Buhari himself who chose him because of his commitment and dedication to legislative duties.

Breaking: Why I want INEC to surrender election materials for inspection – Atiku

….as tribunal okays stand-down to deliver a ruling


The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,  PDP,  Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, adduced reasons why he applied for an order to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,  to surrender all the materials used for the February 23 presidential election, for inspection.

He said the request was to establish that the exercise was fraught with manifest irregularities, including multiple thumb-printing of ballot papers, saying he intends to engage forensic experts to analyse the election materials.

Consequently, he prayed the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, for leave to be allowed to obtain some of the sensitive materials that INEC deployed for the presidential election. Meantime, the tribunal, stood-down its proceedings for one hour to enable it to consider the merit or otherwise of the request.

Breaking: Politicians plotting to assassinate, bomb, disrupt coming governorship election – Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, Wednesday, said the Army had uncovered plans by some politicians to set off bombs and disrupt the coming Saturday’s governorship elections in the country.


Buratai also said that the plots by the politicians include using herdsmen and thugs to disrupt the elections.

Buratai who made the statement on Wednesday during a meeting with Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), General Officers Commanding (GOC), Operational Commanders and Directors  of  the military at the Army Headquarters, Abuja, also said that the plots include “ infiltrating domestic staff of political opponents, employ mercenaries to carry out acts of assassinations, use the social media for smear campaigns…”

Court stands down Fayose’s

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday stood down for one hour, the fraud trial of the immediate past Governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, facing charges of N6.9 billion fraud.

A former Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, who is the fifth prosecution witness, was billed by cross examination on Monday.

APC vs PDP: What Saraki told me about Buhari, Tinubu, 2019 – Dele Momodu

Ovation Publisher, Dele Momodu has shared his conversation with the Senate President Bukola Saraki about the 2019 election, President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Bola Tinubu, among others.
Momodu made the revelation on Saturday in an article entitled, “How Saraki plans to defeat Buhari in 2019”.
Momodu said he and Saraki spoke during the Eid El Kabir festival, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, has told the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, to steer clear of his boss.
Olayinka advised Shehu not to drag Governor Ayodele Fayose into President Muhammadu Buhari’s messy fight with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

SACKED Special Investigator to the Special Presidential Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property, Evang. Victor Uwajeh, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration of bias in its anti-corruption crusade.
Uwajeh claimed he was sacked less than two months after his appointment because the administration had a mindset about who should be prosecuted at all costs.

Trouble in the House of God: Buhari’s cash gift divides CAN

National Christian Elders Forum, NCEF, is accusing the leadership of the Christian of Nigeria (CAN) of corruption and abuse of office.
Specifically, the forum alleged that the leadership of the umbrella organisation for Christians in Nigeria collected N25 million or N40 million from the Presidency during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, criticising the action and calling for sanction. It also alleged that the CAN leadership bought official vehicles at questionable prices.

Bode George should beg Obasanjo, says Oyinlola

A former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has advised the former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode George, to seek forgiveness from former President Olusegun Obasanjo and stop attacking his benefactor.
Oyinlola stated this on Saturday in reaction to a recent interview by George where he described Obasanjo’s Coalition for Nigeria Movement as a deceit and waste of time while attacking its promoters.

My dad burnt my property for accepting Jesus —Senator Binta

The senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the Senate, Mrs.  Binta Masi Garba, on Sunday narrated how all that she had were set ablaze by her biological father after she gave her life to Jesus Christ.

She spoke during a thanksgiving service organised to mark her 50th birthday at the Chapel of Praise International Church, Yola on Sunday.
Binta, who broke down in tears during the service, said God made it possible for her to become a cornerstone after the deprivation and rejection she suffered after accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour.

Obasanjo Playing Politics With Letter To Buhari – Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of playing politics with his recent open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.


Tinubu said this on Friday when he spoke with newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on his was to Awka, the Anambra State capital, for the burial of former Vice President Alex Ekwueme.

Ekiti Bars Fayemi From Holding Public Office, To Refund N2.75b

White Paper released by the Ekiti State Government has barred a former Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, from holding any public office in the state for 10 years.

The state also barred a former Commissioner for Finance in the administration of Fayemi, Dapo Kolawole, for the same number of years.
The duo were barred based on the report of the Ekiti Judicial Commission of Inquiry, which indicted them over alleged mismanagement of the state’s finances between October 2010 and 2014.

I was offered a vessel to stop Senate hearing on petitions against Total – Senator Olamilekan

Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola representing Lagos West Senatorial district disclosed on Tuesday in Abuja, that he was offered a vessel to kill a petition brought against Total Upstream Nigeria Limited for deliberately flouting the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act.
A petition against Total Upstream was forwarded to Senate Committee on Local Content by the Indigenous Vessels Operators Association of Nigeria asking it to intervene in the cancellation of the bidding contract entered by the association members in 2014.

Nigeria not yet ready to fight corruption — Senate •Slams poor funding of anti-graft agencies

Senate has said that the perennial under-funding of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and other anti-graft agencies in each budget year is an indication that the country is not yet ready to fight corruption.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, who drew the conclusion during the 2018 budget defence by the Commission before the Committee, lamented that ICPC had been greatly incapacitated with poor funding.

He said: “The trouble of ICPC has always been poor funding.

Tinubu visits Afenirere leader, says no automatic ticket for Buhari

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday declared that the party would follow the normal democratic process in choosing its standard bearer for the 2019 presidential election.

He said the leadership of the party had not endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari as its sole candidate for the forthcoming presidential election.
His declaration was against the recent endorsement of President Muhammadu as the sole candidate of  the APC for the 2019 election by the APC governors.

PDP Asks National Spokesperson To Resign

The People's Democratic Party's National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Adeyeye has been asked to resign his position.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has asked the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Adeyeye, to resign his position over his silence at the unlawful arrest of two top officials of the State Government by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

It also advised Adeyeye to purge himself of anger over his failure to secure Governor Ayodele Fayose’s support for his governorship ambition and do his job.
