By Oki Samson

The Executive Secretary/CEO, Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun joined the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Lagos as it launched a new unit to swiftly attend to cases of road crashes.

This new unit, Operation Quick Response Rescue Unit, is designed to employ motorbikes for the quick and effective response to traffic emergencies in order to ensure speedy and easy accessibility to crash and breakdown scenes.

This will provide timely administration of First Aid and evacuation of victims as well as traffic management.

While launching the new Unit, Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun commended the efforts of the FRSC in their timely response and dedication to ensuring law and order on our road.

He also pledged that the Fund will continue to support the agency within its capacity to further enhance the efficiency of the FRSC and its newly established 'Operation Quick Response Rescue Unit'.

At the same event where he was Special Guest, the head of the funding agency performed wreath-laying to pay respect to individuals who have lost their lives through car accidents.

This was in celebration of 2021 Africa Road Safety World Day Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims organized by the FRSC.

Speaking further on the new unit, the FRSC Sector Commander Lagos State, Mr. Segun Ogungbemide noted that 'Operation Quick Response Rescue Unit' became imperative for swift response to emergencies.

More so, the roads tend to witness a spike in vehicular travels as we approach December.

The launching ceremony was also attended by other Lagos State Government officials including representatives of the Commissioner for Transport and Health, private health institutions, etc.
