FIGHT AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS: NSCDC PLEDGES STRONGER COLLABORATION WITH NHRC

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Anambra State Commandant, Commandant Vincent Ogu has pleged the Corps' strong commitment to support the work of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in fulling its statutory mandate.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) by the Command's Spokesperson, DSC Okadigbo Edwin stated that, "The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Anambra State Command has pleged strong commitment to support the work of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in its determination to deliver on its statutory mandate of promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights in the Country.


Mr. Vincent Ogu JP, the State Commandant of NSCDC in Anambra State made this pledge when he received a delegation from NHRC led by Mrs. Nkechi Flaura Ugwuanyi, Anambra State Coordinator on a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters Awka today 18th of August 2021."

"Mr. Ogu applauded the team for their determination to address all sort of Human Right violation across the country.

He stated that the NSCDC remains a reliable allay in the fight against human rights violation adding that Corps personnel are committed to the observance of human right tenets during operations."


Earlier, Mrs Nkechi Flaura Ugwuanyi, the State Coordinator said the purpose of the visit was to seek areas of collaboration with the Corps stating that the need for partnership and prompt response to cases of human rights violation can not be over emphasized.

He admonished the Corps to remain steadfast in ensuring humane treatment of civilians in accordance with International best practices.
