AIG Olasupo Babatunde Ajani, who joined the Police Force as a Cadet ASP on March 25, 1988, gave thanks to God that his retirement was not as a result of illness or death but on age grounds.
In his valedictory speech during his Pull-out Parade organized in his honour at Osogbo City Stadium, Ajani said he joined the Police not because of money, power or fame but for adventure and for the painful privilege of venturing into the hurting places, saying 'I came, I saw and I conquered'.
A statement by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ayeni Benjamin quoted AIG Ajani as saying that as a police officer he has been privileged to work with extra ordinary people of courage and compassion, of heroism and humanity, of bravery and brilliance, of determination and that of precious, old fashioned thing called duty.
Ajani further appealed to the government and well meaning Nigerians to assist the Police in carrying out it statutory functions for optimum delivery.
"This is because, population is increasing, crime is rising and officers are reducing in numbers without adequate replacement," he said.
Responding on behalf of other commissioners of Police, including CP Ngozi Onadeko of Oyo State Command and CP Bolaji A. Salami of Ondo State Command, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale T. Olokode, Congratulated AIG Olasupo Babatunde Ajani psc for a successful 33 years of unblemish service, promising that their commands will carry on the fight against crime without resting on their oars.
The representative of Osun State Governor, and Special Assistant on Security Matters, CP Abiodun Ige (retd), congratulated the AIG, saying his gallant performance and track records which earned him 'Osun State Merit Award on Security 2005,' is still evident and wished him well in his future endeavors. She also commended officers and men of Zone 11 Command, comprising Oyo and Osun states, for making the zone the most peaceful.
The Pull-out Parade was attended by traditional rulers, families and friends of the AIG, all heads of security agencies in Osun State including the Nigeria Army, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Fire Service and the Correctional Service.
