The Commandant was highly honoured, extoled and edified as he received the award of **THE MOST PROACTIVE NSCDC COMMANDANT OF THE YEAR 2021* by the National Media Community Award ( NMCA).
The theme of the award ceremony is 'The Nigerian Democracy: The need for a bold media.'
The award ceremony began at about 14:00hrs and ended at about 17:30hrs.
The Award covered the media and other various sectors of human endeavours, which also include the security industry.
It was witnessed by Media Icons, Publishers and Editors as well as seasoned and career journalists, Security organizations and especially the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps lagos State Command.
The award also featured a lecture on the theme of the event, 'The Nigerian Democracy: The need for a bold media.'
The lecture was discussed by three panelists and moderated by the Masters of Ceremony known as Mr Champion and Mr Bato. Notably, one of the panelists present at the event was Mr Babajide Kolade Otitoju.
The Commandant was unavoidably absent and the award was received on his behalf by the Public Relations Officer NSCDC LAGOS STATE COMMAND, Assistant Superintendent of Corps I (ASCI) Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide.
The Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commandant appreciated the Almighty God for making the award a possibility at this time, the Commandant- General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi Phd mni, the Lagos State Government, the Oganisers, the entire media Community in Lagos and Nigeria at large for this award. The award was timely and remarkable due to the rigorous and great work the Commandant has been doing since his assumption into office barely some months ago.
He responded swiftly during the Endsars protest in Lagos to ensure the security of lives and property when the chips were down, he has bursted crimes and syndicates of crime, arrest of illegal petrol tankers with suspects and recovery of exhibits on the right of away twice for the first time in the Command, oil pipeline explosion has drastically being eradicated in the state, continuous school safety initiative of pupils and students across various schools and other government infrastructure amongst others in the state.
The Commandant will continue to do more in ensuring that criminality is totally eradicated or reduced to the bearest minimum in our various communities and the state at large.
Finally, to whom much is given, much is expected. The Commandant also sincerely received the award with great joy and delight and this will also spur him to do more and give his best to the service as time goes on.
