PREGNANT WIFE ALLEDGELY KILLED BY HUSBAND: POLICE DEBUNKS SOCIAL MEDIA REPORT, SAYS SUSPECT TRANSFERED TO SCID

The Lagos State Police Command have denied and debunks earlier report on social media stating that the man allegedly killed his pregnant wife had been released.

The Police through her Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi has stated that,  contrary to reports making the rounds the social media that Mr. Anthony Ikpeama – who was alleged to have killed his wife, Adaeze Ikpeama – has been released after presenting a medical report, is not true but, just a rumour.

In a press statement by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public relations officer of the Lagos state police command stated that,”Grateful be informed that the suspect, Anthony Ikpeama, m, who was alleged of killing his wife, Adaeze Ikpeama, f, 28, on admission bed at Doyen Hospital Ajah, Lagos State has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba for proper investigation.”

Adejobi further stated that, “The suspect has not been released contrary to the rumour and falsehood making waves on the social media. It’s a capital offense and the police will not grant him any administrative bail for whatever reason.”

The matter is on and we will do justice to the case as expected.

It can be recalled that on Saturday, April 10, Anthony allegedly killed his wife, Adaeze, who was already 6-months pregnant with their third child, after several rounds of beating in an act of domestic violence towards her. Adaeze was alleged to have gone into a coma after her husband’s bestial act on her.

Adaeze was rushed to the hospital where good samaritans thought it well for her to receive medical attention, due to the critical stage she was in. She was placed on oxygen by the doctors, but Anthony allegedly rushed into the hospital and removed the oxygen mask from her face, causing her to suffocate to her death.

Anthony has since then been taken into the custody of the police, and it was the rumors on social media of his release that had begun to spread wide that the Lagos police command had to issue an official press statement e-signed by the spokesman.
