I wasn’t arrested by EFCC over $2.1 arms fund — Abba Dabo

Abba Dabo
Former Special Adviser on Political Matters to immediate past Vice President Namadi Sambo, Abba Dabo, has said he was never arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in connection with the ongoing probe of $2.1 arms cash.
Dabo, a long standing Nigerian journalist and publisher, however admitted refunding the N25 million he got from Destra, a firm linked to the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, for media campaigns.

Metuh is standing trial for allegedly receiving N400 million from Sambo Dasuki. He said he had to urgently return the money to the EFCC once he realised that the money given to him was from the office of the former NSA and meant for arms purchase.

Dabo said he had no idea whatsoever of the source of the money given to him until the media started linking it to the NSA, who is standing trial for paying out over $2 million arms cash for other purposes.

The politician denied ever being arrested by the EFCC on ”January 11, this year or at any other time and by any other law enforcement agency in connection with the said N25 million.

“I wish to say that I was never arrested by the EFCC or any other law enforcement agency on the said date.

I am a law-abiding citizen of this great country and I have always done my best to operate within the ambit of the law and will never therefore not do anything to break the law of Nigeria,” Dabo said.

Dabo has also given the same testimony before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, where Metuh is being tried for the malfeasance.
