Angry mob hack cobbler to death in Calaber

There was pandemonium Monday in Calabar when an angry mob

lynched and burnt a cobbler, Musa Ibrahim to death for stabbing a boy.
Just as the Cross River State Police command is working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of Musa Ibrahim and skirmishes which took place as a result.

Vanguard learned that the incident which occurred at N0 36 Abang Asang Street in Akim Qua town, Calabar Municipality Council Area of the state started when the deceased (Musa Ibrahim) stabbed a an unidentified young man with a dagger after a disagreement on the terms of payment for work done and this led to a fight.
An eyewitness who preferred anonymity told Vanguard that trouble started when the deceased finished mending the boy’s shoes and an argument ensued due to terms of payment adding that “out of provocation Ibrahim brought out his dagger and stabbed the boy but while trying to run away, irate youths in the area pursued and lynched him to death” he stated.

residents deserted their homes for fear of being arrested by the police.
Vanguard also visited the casualty ward of the University of

Calabar Teaching Hospital where the stabbed boy was rushed to he was sighted lying down on a bed as he his thigh bandaged contrary to insinuations that he died on the spot as a result of the injury.
The State Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), ASP John Eluu, who confirmed the incident on telephone, said the investigation on the matter was still ongoing and there was no cause for alarm.
