The authorities in Mexico have announced the capture of fugitive drug kingpin, Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman who has been on the run since he escaped from his prison cell in July 2015.
El Chapo’s arrest was announced by Mexican government official, Enrique Pena Nieto, on Twitter in a message translated by Reuters to mean:
“Mission completed: we’ve got him. I’d like to inform the Mexicans that Joaquin Guzman Loera has been detained, ”
