Presenting the kits at a one-day cancer awareness and enlightenment campaign for stakeholders in Maiduguri, Hajiya Shettima said cancer, which had become deadly, especially among the women folk in the state, was worrisome, hence the need for government at all levels to contribute their quota towards its prevention and eradication from the society.
Guest speaker at the event, Dr. Babagana Usman, of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, said some women were more vulnerable to cancer in the state because of deprivation of their rights by their husbands, who were misled by certain norms and values of their religion, culture and tradition.
