Senator Ashafa commends Ikorodu residents, decries jungle justice

Reported lynchings of suspected members of the Badoo Cult group terrorizing the community hit the airwaves in the past few days.

The Senator representing Lagos East senatorial district, Gbenga Ashafa has, through a press statement released via his social media feeds, decried the rising incidents of jungle justice in the Ikorodu area.

In the statement, Senator Ashafa commended the people of Ikorodu for resisting the existence of the group within their community.

‘Only traditional medicine can cure President Buhari’ - NANTMP

The association of traditional medicine practitioners says they have the panacea to President Muhammadu Buhari’s ailment.

Members of the National Association of the Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners [NANTMP], has urged the Presidency to, as a matter of urgency, bring back President Muhammadu Buhari from the United Kingdom as they have all it takes to heal him. 

According to the Patron of the body, Dr. Adesunmiboye Fawawo, whatever ailment the President is battling with can only be cured by traditional medicine if only the Presidency consults them.

UNIOSUN students in violent protests over disappearance of their colleagues



The streets of Olaiya in Osogbo and others were on Wednesday flooded by students of the Osun State University who are protesting over the constant disappearance of their colleagues.

Reports say undergraduates of the University are burning things and vandalising properties following the recent disappearance of a 400 level student of Microbiology Department whose lifeless body was found days later.

Sources say the undergraduate was called out by a neighbour, Sakariyau Abdulrofiu, 10 days ago only for his corpse to be found at the back of an Alfa’s house.

Student in Nigeria develops cure for breast cancer

A female student of the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, Sandra Musujusu, has developed an alternative treatment for breast cancer.
 scientific breakthrough might lead to a lasting solution in the treatment of breast cancer prevalent among women world over.
This was made known on Tuesday in Abuja when the World Bank Education Director, Dr Jaime Saavedra Chanduvi with his team visited the University as part of his assessment tour of the 10 African Centres of Excellence (ACE) centres.

A large fire broke out at a packed beach in Bournemouth, England, as sun-seekers were enjoying the hot weather.

Witnesses reported seeing someone ‘throw a flare’ behind one of the beach huts, which then sparked a large blaze on the grass on the beach.

Abandoned, hungry, we are pregnant for unknown men — Teenage girls

Janet, Ibitam and Rose have one thing in common: They are teenage inmates at the Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, camp    in Akpabuyo Local Government    Area of Cross River State but heavily pregnant.

Janet is 13 and eight months pregnant, Ibitam is 14  and seven months pregnant while Rose,15, is carrying eight months old pregnancy. Meanwhile all three girls do not know who got them pregnant and  do not know where their next meal will come from.

Lagos declares June 12 public holiday

…Says State Remains Committed To Ideals Of The Annulled Elections The Lagos State Government on Sunday declared

Monday public holiday to mark June 12 celebration in the State, saying that the State remains committed to the ideals of the annulled 1993 Presidential election.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tunji Bello on behalf of the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, the government said the holiday was in honour of the ideals which June 12, 1993 Presidential election represents being a day that the country experienced an election that was adjudged as the freest and fairest in Nigeria’s history.
