Alausa Pastor's Sack: Church Members Stay Away From Service

It seems members of the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, are showing solidarity with their sacked Chaplain.
A number of them stayed away from service on Sunday.

Of the 30 church members that were supposed to be part of the birthday thanksgiving service for the month of May, only nine were present.

The Presiding Chaplain of the Chapel, Venerable Femi Taiwo, was sacked by the Governing Council of the church allegedly on the orders of the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

It’s time to let Biafra people go

The current antics of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the self-proclaimed leader of the illusory Biafra Republic, brings to mind an often quoted remark by Karl Marx, who pointed out in reference to the 9th November 1799 coup d’etat by Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte in France:
"History often repeats itself, the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce…”

As if to illustrate this thought-provoking adage afresh, post-colonial Nigerian history, which first produced the immense tragedy of Biafra with its horrible litany of death and widespread destruction, is now going on to provide the world with a new version of Biafra that is being preached by the colorful duo of Ralph Uwazurike (MASSOB) and Nnamdi Kanu (IPOB).

Corruption war: Nigeria still has a long way to go – UK High Commissioner

Paul Arkwright
The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, has said that in spite of the laudable efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government in the fight against corruption, Nigeria still has a long way to go.

He stated this in Abuja while addressing journalists on the sidelines of the public presentation of a 41-page report of a research work code-named: “Collective Action on Corruption in Nigeria: A Social Norms Approach to Connecting Society and Institutions” carried out by the Royal Institute of International Affairs, London to better understand why certain corrupt practices persist in Nigeria and how they can be tackled.

Leaders who fight corruption cannot be popular – Bola Ajibola

ON MAY 28, 20178:24 AMIN SPECIAL REPORTCOMMENTS By Bashir Adefaka Prince Bola Ajibola (SAN), a former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), is the proprietor of Crescent University, Abeokuta (CUAB), Ogun State. In this interview, he x-rays the Buhari government in the last two years, saying  the problem with the economy is the people who are calling it bad in order to run down the country. How do you assess the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government in the last two years?

I would first and foremost like to raise a point of fact here,  anybody who is in government purposely to rid the government and the country of corruption cannot be popular.   Majority of those in government are there for the purpose of enriching their pockets.   Most of them are there to steal, to cheat, to bribe and to be bribed. Therefore, if there is anyone going into government to get rid of such a situation, he is already on an uphill task and it is bound to be difficult.
