Ife crisis: Arraignment of Yoruba suspects delayed again

For the second time, the arraignment of the five suspects including Oba Ademola Ademiluyi arrested in connection with recent clash between the Hausa and their Yoruba host community in Ile-Ife was yesterday put on hold.


Their arraignment was supposed to come up before Justice Kudirat Akano yesterday but was at the last minute shifted till today. The suspects who were brought to court yesterday amidst tight security remained in the police vehicle until they were returned to Osun state command headquarters.

PDP, CLO attack Buhari over decision to work from home

The Peoples Democratic Party and Civil Liberties Organisation have criticised   President Muhammdu Buhari’s decision to perform  his official roles from home.
 Buhari was   absent  from  a meeting of the Federal Executive Council  inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday.
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo  presided  over the meeting. Buhari did not also  attend the FEC meeting last week, with the  Presidency attributing his absence  to the Easter holiday.

Recession: Reps ask other states to learn from Lagos

As Nigeria gradually makes its way out of economic recession, the House of Representatives on Wednesday commended the Lagos State Government’s role, saying that the success story of the State was not only benefitting residents, but helping to get the nation’s economy back on the track.
Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Economic Recession, Hon. Olabode Ayorinde who said this when he led members of the Committee on a courtesy visit to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode  at the Lagos House in Ikeja, said the State currently dictates the pace of the economy in Nigeria.

Buhari dying in Aso Rock – Perry Brimah

Perry Brimah, a popular columnists and convener of ENDS [Every Nigerian Do Something], has raised alarm that President Muhammadu Buhari is dying in office.
Brimah in a statement on Friday said Nigeria was being very compassionless to its president and called on the masses to rise against “cabal” locking up Buhari.
According to him, “There can be no denying how chronically ill president Muhammadu Buhari looks when he seldom does appear in public. The last time was last week Friday when Kaduna state governor Nasir el-Rufai came visiting.

SERAP asks Buhari to resolve doubts over real identities of those behind Ikoyi $45m haul

In the aftermath of the controversy surrounding the ownership of the N13bn ($43.4m, N23m and £27,000) found by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to “urgently address country on the matter so as to clarify the issue, and resolve lingering doubts among Nigerians regarding the real owner(s) of the cash.”

Fayose imposes 7-day curfew as 2 die in youths clash in Ekiti community

Ado-Ekiti- Youths of Igbara-Odo in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti State went on rampage on Saturday and by the time the dust settled, two persons ‎lay dead and several others wounded.

The youth under the aegis of Federation of Igbara-odo Students Union‎, which comprises of current students and old students of the community had distributed some pamphlets to residents early Friday morning.
