IBB hails Buhari over release of Chibok girls

Former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, has hailed the recent release of 21 Chibok girls from captivity.
He described the development as a signal of hope for the nation.
Babangida, who rejoiced with the families, people of Nigeria and the Federal Government over the release of the abducted Chibok girls, said their release was an indication that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government was committed to ensuring safe release of all the abducted girls.

Landlady bursts into tenant’s room, finds skeleton in Ogun

A skeleton suspected to be that of a woman was found propped up on a chair in the apartment of a pastor, Sunday Aremu, in Peaceland Estate, Akute area of Ogun State on Friday after his landlady made a surprise visit.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that the landlady decided to burst into the apartment to evict the man, said to be a pastor, because he owed rents.

Why FG may shut Shoprite, Next Cash ‘N’ Carry, other stores

The Federal Government has issued a seven-day ultimatum to retail store giants, Shoprite and Next Cash ‘N’ Carry to withdraw any product that contains Genetically Modified Organisms from their shelves or risk a total shutdown.
Director-General, National Biosafety Management Agency, NBMA, Dr. Rufus Ebegba, issued the warning in Abuja on Friday during a meeting with representatives of the two mega shops.
Egbeda said the agency had received complaints from members of the public about the sale of GMO foods in the two stores.

Recession: School shuts down, others record low turnout

For two decades, Telesis School, situated in the Alakuko area of Lagos, thrived as an academic centre, striving to provide sound education for many families resident in the community and its environs. But, as schools resumed across the country recently for a new academic session, the gates of the institution has remained shut to the teaching staff and pupils.
A former official in the Finance Department of the school told our correspondent, on condition of anonymity, on Thursday that the closure was due to the present economic recession in the country.
