Niger Delta Avengers blow up NNPC, others’ facilities in Delta

THE federal government’s proposed peace talks with rampaging Niger Delta militants on Sunday morning suffered a major setback as the Niger Delta Avengers blew up several oil facilities belonging to Chevron and Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation.

Herdsmen kill ECWA pastor, dismember body

A clergyman of the Evangelical Church of West Africa, Reverend Zakariya, has been killed by attackers suspected to be herdsmen in Nasarawa State.
Three of the killed pastor’s children are said to be in the university.

Zakariya was murdered on Thursday on his farm by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Obi Local Government Area of the state.
According to a Twitter user, @uncanny_sam, who announced the death of the clergyman, Zakariya will be buried on Tuesday.

Fayose: Police get 102 petitions

The office of the Inspector General of Police as received not less than 102 petitions against the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, investigations by one of our correspondents have revealed.

The petitions were said to have been written by those alleged to have either been harassed, beaten or detained before, during, and after the last governorship election in the state.

Niger-Delta Avengers denies arrest of its members, dares SSS to parade suspects before reporters

The Niger Delta Avengers on Saturday said the announcement by the State Security Services to the effect that some of its members were arrested was laughable.

In a statement posted on its website, the Avengers, notorious for its wanton destruction of oil and gas installations across the oil-rich region, said the SSS should grant reporters access to suspects in its custody to substantiate its claims that those arrested were members of the militant group.

I didn’t steal Majek Fashek’s song – Timi Dakolo

Music star Timi Dakolo has denied the claim that he stole veteran artist Majek Fashek’s song.

Majek Fashek had told Saturday Beats recently that Dakolo stole his evergreen hit, Send Down the Rain.
“He broke the rules of copyright. He is a thief because in music business, he must take permission before he works on someone’s song,” Fashek had said.

Gunmen kill Oyo House of Assembly member

A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Gideon Aremu, representing Orelope State Constituency was killed by gunmen on Friday evening.

Bus driver kills twins, injures brother in Ogun

A commercial mini-bus, a Toyota Picnic with number plate KTU 175 DZ, crushed two children of the same parents to death on Friday in Ita Oshin area, Abeokuta, Ogun State while they were on their way to school.
The accident, according to an eyewitness, occurred at about 8am.
