Three killed in Third Mainland helicopter crash


A helicopter belonging to Bristow Helicopters with 12 people on board Wednesday, crashed into the Lagoon near the Oworonshoki end of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
According to an eyewitness,  the aircraft marked 5NBGD was said to be coming from one of the oil rigs in Escravos area of the Niger Delta and was said to be heading for Lagos Island when it went down around 3.p.m.

FIFA Under-17 WC: Amunike steps up Eaglets’ preparation

Following the release of the FIFA Under-17 group draw, Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amunike stated that their preparations have been stepped up with their opponents in mind.
Nigeria, is drawn in group A alongside hosts Chile, USA and Croatia in the tournament scheduled to run from October 17 to November 8 in Chile.

Fans call for annual remembrance of Okwaraji

Twenty six years after the sudden death of ex-international, Samuel Okwaraji, sport enthusiasts on Tuesday urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to institute an annual programme in his remembrance. They told newsmen in separate interviews that the late player should be properly immortalised. Okwaraji slumped in the 77th minute during a World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Angola played at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos State, on Aug. 12, 1989 and was later pronounced dead.

Amokachi assures Ifeanyi Uba of continental ticket

New Technical Adviser of Ieanyi Uba FC, Daniel Amokachi has assured that the technical crew will strive to pick a continental ticket at the end of the ongoing Glo Premier League season.
Speaking during his unveiling at the Rojenny stadium in Oba, Anambra state , Amokachi said he was confident that the good times would start rolling in for the club, adding that he was happy to be deemed worthy of the job by the Chairman of the club, Ifeanyi Uba of Capital Oil and Gas.

Premiership kick off as Leicester go top of League


Leicester went top of the Premier League on Saturday as their opening day 4-2 defeat of Sunderland lifted them clear of the pack on goal difference at King Power Stadium. Elsewhere, there were wins for Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa but Leicester’s four-goal tally lifts them top-of-the-table ahead of the final match of the day where champions Chelsea host Swansea at Stamford Bridge.
