BREAKING: CBN orders banks to close cryptocurrency accounts

The Central Bank has ordered banks and other financial institutions to identify persons and entities operating cryptocurrency exchanges and close all such accounts.

It stated that dealing with cryptocurrencies and facilitating payments through them are illegal in the country.

Covid-19: UK daily coronavirus cases top 60,000 for first time

The number of new daily confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK has topped 60,000 for the first time since the pandemic started.

According to government figures on Tuesday, the number of people who have tested positive reached 60,916.

A further 830 people have died within 28 days of a positive test, up from 407 on Monday.

FG increases electricity tariff again

The Federal Government has again increased the electricity tariff payable by power consumers across the country.

Approval for the hike in tariff was given by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, as the increase which varies based on different consumer classes took effect from January 1, 2021.

Sowore arrives court in handcuffs

A human rights activist and publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore, wore handcuffs when he arrived at the Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja on Tuesday.

Reports had it that the court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Mabel Segun-Bello, would hear the bail application by Sowore and four other activists.
