Can Buhari tame the buccaneers?

BUCCANEERING in governance of Nigeria at different times has constituted a major draw back to the economic development of the country. Painfully organised slaughter by raiders of the National treasury against the nation and her people has pushed the national economy crashing to the ground, with the Nigerian degraded on daily.

The startling revelations by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, coupled with the melodrama in Abuja and Lagos court rooms, have exposed the buccaneers who are mainly the shameless political class and their collaborators in the’ Federal Bureaucracy and parastatals.

I didn’t heed my mother’s warning, says robbery suspect

A member of a notorious One Chance robbery gang, Ajibola Alao, 29, arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of Lagos State Police Command, has said he failed to heed his late mother’s advice not to steal the fruits of other people’s sweat. The suspect, who showed remorse for his actions, was arrested for allegedly robbing innocent victims.

Alao was arrested last Thursday during one of his routine operations in Oshodi area of the state, after dispossessing their lone passenger, Mr. Asotie Benedict, of his two phones and N61,000.

Does FG need task force to bring down food prices?

It is not about enforcement of prices by a special task force. Government needs to encourage production of goods and services by adequately providing things that make industries thrive. Many companies have relocated from Nigeria to other West, East and South African countries because this country cannot guarantee industrialists power supply and good roads, among other things.
We don’t see genuine intention of the government towards youth corps members and those who have completed their service. What about initiatives like the Green Revolution and other agricultural schemes? What is a graduate of agriculture doing in school classroom when he is supposed to go to the field to assist in the production of food crops?

Children don’t need phones with Internet — Teco Benson

Talented Nollywood
film director and producer,
Mr. Teco Benson,
shares his fatherhood
experience with
GBENGA ADENIJI
How would you define fatherhood?
Fatherhood for me is a higher call of responsibility. It involves a lot of mentoring; a lot of hard work because every father wants the best for his children.
What has been your greatest challenge as a father?
Sometimes as a father, there are things one wishes to do for one’s children. But because the financial resources are not there, one has to make do with what one has. Also, the society is a problem. There is a way that would lead to a better tomorrow for the children and one makes all the efforts to set them on that path. But the kind of system that we have in the neighbourhood, school, etc, are not helping matters.
