I robbed to raise money to fund poultry farm – Suspect

A suspected leader of a car snatching syndicate in Aba, Abia State, identified as Ladislas Ukpabi, has said that he robbed to raise money to expand his poultry farm.
He said the economic recession in the country and frustration as a result of his dwindling poultry business made him to consider armed robbery as an option.

The Police in Abuja have arrested 12 suspected members of a cult group, Norsemen, who have been terrorising residents of Apo District, Abuja, for some time.
Items recovered from the boys, who are being detained at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad facility, include a locally fabricated rifle, three cutlasses and a knife.

7 children die during raids

At least seven children were among the 22 civilians killed in air strikes Wednesday that hit a school and the surrounding area in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province, a monitor said.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said “warplanes — either Russia or Syrian — carried out six strikes” in the village of Hass, including on a school complex.

Corruption: Afenifere asks Buhari’s ministers to resign

The pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere has declared that there should be no cover up in the war ongoing war against corruption in Nigeria, saying any political office holder involved in the act of corruption should be made to face the wrath of the law.
Specifically, the group said the minsters currently serving in the cabinet of President Muhamadu Buhari who had been mentioned recently for allegedly attempting to pervert justice should resign and face prosecution .

Mikel moves to save Chelsea career

Out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder  Mikel  Obi has held showdown talks with  Blues  manager  Antonio Conte  after being  frozen out of the team by the Italian.
The Nigeria captain  has yet to play a single  Premier League match for the Stamford Bridge side  since the beginning  of the season.
Mikel revealed  on Monday  that  he had been working hard to  play his way back into the team.

Smuggled vehicles: Customs to auction vehicles imported by Imo government

The Comptroller-General of Customs, retired Col. Hameed Ali, says the service would auction seized vehicles belonging to the Imo Government.
The vehicles were brought into Nigeria without payment of customs duty.

Brazil legend Carlos Alberto dies at 72

Brazilian football legend Carlos Alberto has died aged 72, according to media reports.
Alberto, who captained Brazil to victory at the 1970 World Cup, reportedly died after suffering a heart attack.
